URGENT NEEDS
In Simdega District, where our hospital is located, nearly 67% of the population falls below the poverty line. Many of those included in that number are considered “extreme poverty,” a term used to describe severe deprivation of basic human needs, including food, safe drinking water, sanitation facilities, health, shelter, education, and information. This percentage of the population is unable to pay for medical services, which is why many do not receive much-needed medical attention.
Our hospital staff greatly encourages anyone who needs medical attention to come to us—regardless of their ability to pay for treatment. We understand that a large percentage of the patients we treat are unable to pay for their services, but we would rather take on that burden than let them live in ill health or, worse, die. This is why we started Health for India—and why we need your support.
