House of Peace: Shanti Bhavan Medical Center
The Shanti Bhavan Medical Center (SBMC) hospital campus consists of a 125-bed hospital and outpatient clinic. We seek to provide health and healing to people’s physical, spiritual, social, and emotional needs, focusing on the rural communities of Jharkhand, Odisha, Chattisgarh, and Bihar. Our nonprofit medical services encompass a wide variety of specialties, including cardiology, pediatrics, radiology, and more. Ultimately, we strive to ensure every patient receives attentive, compassionate care—and the peace of mind that comes with treatment in a hospital-based setting.
In India, death from heart disease is at an all-time high due to a lack of medical services. Our cardiology department is equipped with high-end cardiology equipment, cardiac ICU, and private patient rooms. The closest cardiology facility is located in Ranchi, a city of three million people located 150 kilometers away. Thanks to our generous donors, thousands of people have access to our facility and services to help alleviate the risk of death by heart failure.
As the need for community medicine and health services in northeast India grows, Shanti Bhavan Medical Center must evolve with it. We have extensive plans to expand our services in the future, including adding more hospital beds, opening a School of Nursing, and adding more medical specialists to our team.
As a nonprofit organization, we rely on donations to turn these plans into reality. The generosity of individuals and organizations alike allows us to serve thousands of men, women, children, and families each year.
The COVID-19 pandemic is devastating communities across India. We are the only modern hospital available to many of the people we serve.
